There is no doubt that solar power in Australia is at an all time high with 1 in 5 homes now having solar power and we are expected that by 2050 more than 50% of homes will have solar power. But why is solar becoming all so popular? what is driving this demand for solar power? Lets run through 7 Benefits of going solar!

5 of the biggest benefits of going solar.

It Reduces Your Electricity Bills.

One of the biggest benefits of going solar is the savings on your electricity bill as all of the power you generate from the solar is free and for most systems any extra electricity you export back to the grid you get paid for. The average household in Australia saves up to $2000 a year on there electricity bills after the installation of there solar system.

Its A Renewable Energy Source.

Solar power is a renewable energy source, which means it is an endless supply of energy. It's powered by heat and light from the sun which will be around forever meaning solar power can be created forever. This is compared to our most common form of electricity generation which is done through the burning of fossil fuels, this method is expected to run out by 2080.

Its Better For The Environment.

Switching to solar power will massively reduce your carbon footprint as the production of energy through solar power does not release greenhouse gasses, carcinogens or CO2 and the production of materials used to make solar power possible also creates minimal impact to the environment as most components are made from sustainable and non polluting materials.

Government Incentives.

The government is currently offering huge rewards to those opting to install solar power on there home or business through a kind of renewable energy currency known as small-scale technology certificates or STC's that represents a unit of renewable energy. The amount of STC's you can generate depends on the size of your system in kilowatts, the amount of electricity your system is expected to generate and the location your system is going to be installed at. These amount of STC's you generate decreases on the 1st of January every year and will be completely gone in 12 years. So now is the time to go solar!

It Can Increase The Value Of Your Home Or Property.

With the exorbitant electricity prices and the demand for energy efficient properties in Australia increasing every year, investing in solar can substantially increase the value of your property. With research showing that the more solar in kilowatts you have on your roof the more your property is worth with 1kw equalling on average an increase of $6000 to the value of your property and a 5kw increasing the value of your property up to $29000. By investing in solar you are investing in your property and therefore your future.
